Noel

I love this simple sign, you can find the tutorial here.

The first year I sang in BYU Womens Chorus we had an AMAZING Christmas concert. We sang beautiful arrangements of well known Christmas songs and I loved every second of it. The only sad thing to me is that the songs we sang were not all recorded on the archival cds they give you at the end of the year. That year I fell in love with the song "The First Noel" when we sang an additional verse I had never heard before. I loved it so much I wrote the words in my personal hymn book...which unfortunately I lost. I found these words online but I really think the words we sang the third line was different.

Now let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our Heavenly Lord,
The which hath made Heaven and Earth of nought,
And by his blood Mankind hath bought

This version by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is equally as beautiful and moving and includes the verse I love. I love to sing this beautiful arrangement someday. Here is my gift to you: I hope you find some time to listen to this beautiful music!

Spooky

I used to love watching this little music video when I was younger. Well, I decided to show it to my little youngster this year and he loves watching it! He always asks "again? again?" after we finish watching it. Or when we haven't watched it for awhile, he will come to me and ask "watch spooky computer?" and what he means is that he wants to watch this on the computer. He calls it spooky, and comments about how it's spooky throughout the video. :) I think it's cute. Hope you like it!

Makes my Heart Sing

Recently I had this song in my head--I didn't know what it was called--how awful is that? I knew the melody and could hear Andrea Bocelli singing with a lady. I googled Andrea Bocelli and this was the first song that came up--the one I was looking for! I think this song is so beautiful and I could listen to it over and over. It makes me want to sing as beautiful as Sara Brightman, but alas--I am not a soprano. My husband thought I wanted to listen to this song so much lately because now it's time to say goodbye to Provo...clever, but no. I didn't even know that was the name of the song until now. :)

Of Rain

My freshman year at BYU, roommates who watched CMT all day long and this song combined with the music video convinced me that maybe I really did like country music after all. This is still such a romantic song to me, hope you like it!

Sorry...

...I missed yesterday. So you get two love songs today. :)

I Will Love You

I've been getting pretty excited for Valentine's Day in case you haven't been able to tell! I am going to try and do a Valentine post every day until Valentine's...and pretty sure that I will be posting one of my favorite love songs every day. :) So here's the first one! I thought about this song today and had kind of forgotten about it. I hope you enjoy and don't get sick of all the lovey-dovey stuff I'm going to post! :)

New Words

Last year we went to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert with Brian Stokes Mitchell and even though this is not a Christmas song, I loved it. It was my favorite of the night. It was so touching to me because I was a pretty new mother at the time. I've been searching for it on the internet ever since and finally someone has put a recording of it on youtube! I really want to learn this song and sing it to my son! Maybe if I can find the music I can sing it for the piano/vocal recital I want to give for my family and friends this year.

P.S. Don't you love his voice?

Guitar Hero

Before I graduated from BYU, I took two of the easiest classes in the world taught by Larry Green. They were guitar classes and they were so fun! I have let my guitar playing slide since not being in school and so this year I am hoping to remember everything I learned in those classes and start playing the guitar regularly again! I love this CD and would love to own it to help inspire me, but since I don't, at least I can listen to clips from the songs here.

Blessings

I woke up around 5 this morning with my babe, and haven't been able to fall back to sleep after he did. This song pretty much sums up my thoughts since last night. Plus it's my favorite part in this movie. :) I wish it had the whole scene in this clip though!

Grateful

Today I am grateful for my blessings. I have loved the past few days of being all day with my husband and son both, mostly at home. I wish I could capture in words the feeling of cuddling on the couch as we watch movies or stare at the Christmas lights on our tree as we read a story by candlelight.
I am grateful for the recognition of blessings I didn't even realize before.
I apologize for being so selfish lately. I feel like my selfishness has shown on this blog with all my posts of things I want for Christmas or endless lists of recipes to try.
What was Christmas really all about? Not baking or presents or new clothes or any of that.
I have enough.

Excited!

Have you heard about the show Sing-Off? It's only one week long--starting tonight! I'm really excited, I can't wait! This weekend I remembered how much I love singing, with two opportunities to sing in public. I haven't had the chance to do that in a very long time and I had forgotten how much I really love singing. I sure hope American Idol comes back to Utah before I'm too old...or maybe I'll get a karaoke machine for Christmas...haha. :)

Night Divine

We went to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert featuring Natalie Cole on Saturday--it was fabulous. My favorite song from the night was the Tabernacle Choir singing "O Holy Night." It was amazing--I felt the music just wash over me and oh wow, it was so powerful! I tried to find a recording on youtube, but this is the only one I could find. Unfortunately it is nothing like the amazingness of the full choir...but it's still nice. :)

Love This

I know I'm probably behind on the most popular music, but I just discovered this song and love it. So I had to share it! :) I hope you like it too!

Spooky Christmas Song?

If you are a reader of my private blog, you might have heard this song on my playlist. But if not, you might not even know this song! My husband came across this song last Christmas, and I love it! It's so funny--it's almost like a scary Christmas song. It always makes me want to swing dance and long for the days when Mister and I took classes together. I also love it because it makes me think of our Babe's first Christmas and those special first few weeks of life. What are some of your favorite holiday songs and why?
