Backyard "Drive In" Movie

Sorry, I know I show a lot of videos from Studio 5...but this was such a fun idea! I had to share another one! I have only been to a drive in theater once and it was so much fun! I've always wanted to go back, but now we live in a different state...so that won't be happening anytime soon. However we do have a back yard! Maybe we could make our own drive in movie theater...after we figure out how to get rid of all the millions of bugs in our back yard.

Not Like I Imagined

I recently finished reading the "Percy Jackson" series by Rick Riordan. They were great, I really enjoyed reading them and had a hard time putting them down to be an good wife and mother...
So I read the 5 book series over the past month or two and was very surprised when last week while enjoying a free bowl of ice cream at Cold Stone, I glanced over at the movies playing at the dollar theater...and saw "Percy Jackson" listed as one of the movies there!
We went home, I looked it up online and watched the trailer...and sure enough it was the same Percy Jackson I had just finished reading about. 9:35 showing? No prob. We went. Just like that. Probably only because it was my birthday. :) It was my honey's first time in a movie theater...he did really well. He fell asleep half way through, and other than not liking how loud it was during a couple really loud monster parts...he didn't have any problems!
Anyway, the movie was fun...but nothing like the book. Books are always better. The worst part for me was how completely OFF all of the characters looked from how I had imagined them in my head. Every. Single. One. I didn't like how they changed the storyline either, but I guess it made the movie more interesting. Go read the book, and then if you want...watch the movie. :)

St. Patrick's Day

I hope everyone had a fun St. Patrick's day today! Mine was good, even though it was one of those too frequent days where everything was better in my head then in actuality. We had a leprechaun visit our home and turn the milk green and leave some fun treasures hidden around our house. I had hoped the leprechaun would leave little green footprints...but I guess this was a clean leprechaun!
Today marked the beginning of Mr. Wonderful's spring break...so he still has to work, but no school for the rest of the week! The weather was BEAUTIFUL today, so we went to the park...I wished I had planned to have a picnic!
I had planned to have made Green Shamrock Rolls (my own little twist on this recipe) for breakfast with our green milk, but didn't have time beforehand so instead we had Lucky Charms which was just as fun and ate Green Shamrock Rolls as a snack later in the day.
I had planned to have Shamrock Sandwiches with Pot of Gold Soup and green kool-aid, and Clover Crispies for dessert...but since all the stores were sold out of shamrock cookie cutters by the time I was able to look for one, there weren't any shamrocks or clovers involved, but we still ate them anyway. :)
We also watched The Gnome Mobile, which is a fun St. Patrick's Day movie...although my very favorite is Darby O'Gill and the Little People.
I had also planned to make my Little Honey a new green shirt...but with a husband gone most of the day and no time to myself, it's pretty hard to get things done. So that didn't happen either. It's cut out at least...that's the hardest part!
Despite a couple disappointments, it was a fun day. How do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

The Monster of Strawberry Cove

Have you ever seen The Monster of Strawberry Cove?
When I was little, my family watched old movies, and Disney movies...and The Monster of Strawberry Cove is both! I thought of it today and looked online to see if I could find out more about it, and learned that it was part of a TV series called the Wonderful World of Disney but that it is not on DVD or VHS. My Dad recorded it off of the TV and we would watch it all the time. I was disappointed, because I would like to watch it again. Some other old Disney movies we watched were Darby O'Gill and the Little People, Old Yeller, Blackbeard's Ghost, and I could go on. Have you seen any of these movies? Do you like them? What movies did you watch as a kid?
